Inspired by the births of our children, their daunting future, and the dizzying possibility of rebirth and resilience present in the soil beneath our feet, our home is a DIY, often-improvised experiment in how to create space for the creatures we’ve displaced, let kids be kids, adults be adults and dogs be dogs, just yards from a busy urban center. More laboratory than Monticello, it’s a place to have a conversation about what works, what doesn’t, and what’s next.
