Started: 2015
We started our garden as a turf-removal rebate project in 2015. It now showcases an assortment of California natives along with some non-natives. The former front-yard lawn was replaced by a decomposed granite path winding past a manzanita and a desert willow to arrive at a pre-existing rose garden. We also converted the sloped back yard from lawn to mostly California natives. We added a shady pavilion next to our western redbud to create a relaxing indoor/outdoor space. It has been very enjoyable to see the progress and to learn from the garden.
Notable Plants

Manzanita (Arctostaphylos spp.)
Western Redbud (Cercis occidentalis)
Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis ‘Burgundy’)
Cobweb Thistle (Cirsium occidentale)
Cliff Spurge (Euphorbia misera)
